Tyler Robert Buchanan, a 24-year-old British hacker ("Tylerb") and senior Scattered Spider member, pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft for leading SMS phishing attacks in 2022. The attacks breached at least a dozen major tech companies including Twilio, LastPass, DoorDash, and Mailchimp, stealing tens of millions in cryptocurrency. Buchanan faces 20+ years in prison.
