Google Broke Its Promise to Me. Now ICE Has My Data

Google handed a Ph.D. student's data to Immigration and Customs Enforcement without notifying him, breaking its decade-long promise to alert users before law enforcement data handovers. The student, Amandla Thomas-Johnson, had attended a brief pro-Palestinian protest at Cornell University, and ICE requested his data months later. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has filed complaints with California and New York attorneys general alleging deceptive trade practices.
