Van Rysel and In&Motion have developed a lightweight wearable airbag system integrated into a race-ready cycling skinsuit, weighing 700 grams with 60-millisecond impact-detection deployment. The UCI sought such protective gear, and the system is in final validation ahead of potential race deployment and general consumer release within two years. The airbag protects upper-body areas not covered by helmets, including the core, cervical zone, and spinal line.
